Newly built 700sqm home with a view
Sitting at the end of a leafy lane in Totteridge, this grand newly built family home was designed to reflect its surroundings. It was clear to us the open outdoors will play a significant role in the planning and design of this house.
By opening up the layout of the ground floor and introducing floor to ceiling widows to frame the green views we've managed to let the outside in. Framed like an artwork, the natural backdrop follows you all around the house.
We chose a large pivot entrance door and full height internal doors to complement the grand spaces. Focal elements such as staircase, kitchen island and fireplace were designed on a large scale to suit.
Our inspiration for the choice of finishes, patterns and colours was also largley influenced by the natural serene landscape.
Unique wood patterns in bespoke joinery
The beautifully crafted bespoke kitchen and joinery items were made in a combination of warm natural veneers such as Eucalyptus and Walnut which carry richness throughout the house. The venners were applied in unique patterns enhancing the natural texture of the wood. Completed with bespoke brass handles and metalwork for that special detail.
Carefully selected furniture using sumptuous fabrics in autumnal colours married well into the scheme to make this house a calm haven for our clients to relax and entertain.
Large scale staircase with a minimal look
Our most favourite feature in this lovely home is the large-scale staircase.
The challenge in designing this immense staircase stretching over three floors was to keep it feeling lightweight despite it's size and to allow as much light to shine from the skylight all the way through to the basement.
Blackened steel sheets were folded and formed into one flowing structure, with hidden metal and glass fixings keeping it clean and floating.
